McKirdy & Riskin’s Jack Buonocore was recently interviewed regarding the efforts of Long Beach Township to obtain access easements on private property. As mentioned, the lawsuit alleges that the township targeted the plaintiffs’ property because they refused to sign separate easement documents permitting the government to take part of their property and use it for the construction of a new sand dune. McKirdy & Riskin’s Jack Buonocore was recently interviewed and quoted in an article regarding the efforts of Long Beach Township to acquire beach access easements on private property on Long Beach Island for use in connection with the upcoming beach replenishment project being undertaken by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Two of McKirdy & Riskin’s partners will be leading a seminar for New Jersey’s Institute for Continuing Legal Education on September 23, 2014 entitled “The Fundamentals of Eminent Domain” at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. McKirdy & Riskin’s Anthony DellaPelle was interviewed and quoted in an article in the March, 2014 edition of the American Bar Association Journal. The article, which focuses on the possible use of eminent domain to seize underwater mortgages in various places around the country, includes comments from DellaPelle regarding the possible problems that these efforts may face in litigating the matters in the proper venues, because these potential takings do not involve takings of real estate, but rather mortgage loans. McKirdy & Riskin’s Tony DellaPelle will once again be a panelist at the annual Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Conference, presented by the American Law Institute. This year’s conference will be held at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans from January 23 to 25, 2014. Tony will be speaking on “Condemnation Issues in the Aftermath of Natural Disasters”, and will also present on “Damages and Benefits in Partial Takings Cases” in the Condemnation 101 session of this annual conference.
