Three of McKirdy & Riskin’s attorneys will participate in the New Jersey Redevelopment Authority’s Redevelopment Planning Law course, which is part of the NJRA’s Redevelopment Training Institute. Anthony DellaPelle is serving as the Lead Instructor and Planning Chair of the conference,
which will be held on October 23 and 24, and will be presenting on the topic of “Property Acquisition, Eminent Domain and Relocation”. John
Buonocore, Jr. and Rich DeAngelis Jr. will be panelists on the topics of “Step One: The Area in Need of Redevelopment” and “Recent Developments

 McKirdy & Riskin’s Anthony DellaPelle will be serving as Co-Chair of the Litigation Services Forum during the Counselors of Real Estate Annual Convention on October 14 to 17 in Miami Beach. DellaPelle’s forum, entitled “Land Mines Faced By the Expert Witness” , will feature attorneys and valuation professionals with experience in real estate valuation litigation. Harry Riskin and Anthony Della Pelle were recognized as two of New Jersey’s “Top Rated Lawyers” in the field of Real Estate Law for 2012 as published in the Star-Ledger’s Inside Jersey Magazine in August, 2012. The list of Top Rated Lawyers was created by Lexis Nexis Martindale-Hubbell, based upon that company’s Peer Review Ratings which identify lawyers who have been rated by their peers to be AV Preeminent, the highest Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating available.

MOUNT OLIVE TWP. – Mayor Robert Greenbaum said the township has no other choice but to use its power of eminent domain to buy a deteriorating, former nursing home in Budd Lake and convert it into housing for low- and moderate-income families. The Cobblestone Health Care Facility on Stonewald Court has been empty since it was closed in 2008 as a result of an agreement with the state. Teresa Davenport wants to sell her Boonton house on Harrison Street, a suburban road with modest homes, white picket fences and manicured lawns. She knew the market was bad, but she had to go because about a year ago she took a new job in Virginia. The house had selling points. On April 26th, he led a panel at the 76th Annual Princeton Conference of the Metro New Jersey Chapter of the Appraisal Institute entitled “Public Utilities – the Next Great Wave of Takings

McKirdy& Riskin were selected for inclusion in the Top 100 attorneys in New Jersey for 2012 by New Jersey Super Lawyers Magazine, a Thomson Reuters publication.In the Super Lawyers list published in the April edition of New Jersey Monthly Magazine, partner Anthony Della Pelle was recognized as being in the Top 10 attorneys in New Jersey, and partners Edward McKirdy, Harry Riskin, John Buonocore and Thomas Olson were all named to the Top 100 Super Lawyers list Della Pelle is a resident of Morris Township and McKirdy, Riskin and Buonocore all reside in Mendham. McKirdy & Riskin’s Anthony DellaPelle was recently interviewed and quoted by the Star-Ledger’s MaryAnn Spoto in her article regarding an appellate court’s decision to uphold a $375,000 jury award for a Harvey Cedars couple who claimed that a beach replenishment project reduced the value of their oceanfront home, because it ruined their ocean view.  The case was the latest of beach replenishment cases along the Jersey shore, where municipalities have been using federal funds to rebuild beaches and sand dunes by pumping sand onto the shore to push back against the tide.  The recent Star-Ledger story is available here.

On February 8, 2012, McKirdy & Riskin’s Thomas Olson and Richard DeAngelis served as panelists at the Morris County Bar Association’s Real Estate Tax Appeal seminar, held at the Morris County Courthouse. Tom provided an overview of the tax appeal process to the attorneys in the audience, while Rich discussed recent case law developments in the property tax field.  Tom and Rich were joined on the panel by appraiser Matthew Krauser, CRE, FRICS, who spoke about valuation issues in property tax appeal matters.
